Nastasic discussed his departure with The Guardian noting he felt he could contribute more playing time. When that opportunity did not materialize under manager Manuel Pellegrini he pursued a move to Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga in 2014.

His career later included spells at Fiorentina Mallorca and Leganes before arriving in Saudi Arabia. Off the pitch Nastasic is supported by his wife Jelena who launched fashion brand Amares in 2023. The couple often share lifestyle content from their time in Mallorca and now Saudi Arabia.

At Al-Ula Nastasic continues to apply his top flight experience while adapting to a new footballing environment. His journey from Premier League champion to Saudi second division reflects both personal resilience and the growing appeal of Middle Eastern football for established European players.
